LWML Annual “Mitey” Muffin Sale! “Mitey” Muffins made by LWML members and bought with your mites (pocket change) will again be available after each church service this weekend. Your mites will be added to others in the United Sates to accumulate millions of dollars in two years for funding twenty Lutheran mission programs around the world. Get one or a dozen to take home.
Out With the Old, In With the New! With the recent purchase of new dishes for our church kitchen, the old dishes need a new home. Large and small plates and a few cups have been boxed to take for free. There are also dessert plates and cups free for the taking. What’s left will be taken to a donation center. They’re located in the fellowship hall.
Bethel Mission! Thanks to everyone who participated in our Bethel Mission service project. We at Beautiful Savior are arranging an opportunity to those who would like to become a volunteer on a regular basis. There is a requirement that one or more attend the M25 trainings. Then one of those individuals, who completed that training, must be present each time our group is scheduled to volunteer. This training is an in-depth look at the ministry as a whole and will provide more information on how our church can be involved. They are also asking that the group size be six or less each time we volunteer. The next M25 trainings are scheduled for Friday February 10 from 3-6:00 p.m. and Saturday February 11 from 9-12:00 noon at the Administration Offices in Pleasant Hill. Please contact the church office if you are interested in attending those meetings and we will contact the Activities Coordinator for Hope Ministries. Thank you!
It’s Coming! The Lent Triple Challenge!!! Ash Wednesday is February 22nd. This year, for our spiritual growth and benefit, everyone is encouraged to take the “Lent Triple Challenge.” Here’s what it is – more details will follow:
#1 – Make a personal commitment to read each of the 40 devotions in the “From Death to Life” booklet that will be in everyone’s mailbox by Ash Wednesday.
#2 – Pick something to deny yourself from your daily life (e.g. chocolate, pop, sweets, etc.) so that every time you are tempted to partake of it, you remind yourself, “Jesus gave up his life for me, I’m going to give up xxx for him.” Commitment cards will be provided that will be collected and post during Lent.
#3 – Make a personal commitment to attend all of the Lent and Holy Week services. This year’s Midweek / Holy Lent theme is: “Lent: A Time for Renewal.” Each of this worship services will help you in your need for spiritual nourishment and encouragement.

The Board of Lay Ministry cordially invites you to celebrate “Valerie Boeck Sunday,” on Sunday, February 19, 2012. As of February 14, 2012 Valerie will have served Peace Evangelical Lutheran, 5615 SW 14th St., Des Moines, as our Parish Worker for 25 years. We will honor that achievement with a special “25th Anniversary Celebration.” The congregation will honor Valerie with a reception between services at 9:15 a.m. that day. Then at noon we will have a congregational potluck to which current and former members plus Valerie’s family will be invited. To thank Valerie for these 25 years of service to her Lord and church, the Board of Lay Ministry is receiving special “Gifts of Thanks” to be given to Valerie on that afternoon. Thanks be to God for His servant, Valerie!
A Big Thanks to all who remembered Marcia and I while I was at the hospital in Ames and since returning home. Thanks for all the visits, cards, phone calls, e-mails and prayers. They were appreciated more than you could know. May our Lord bless you all. Gary & Marcia
Needed For Inreach! We need a volunteer to lead the Inreach Committee. This person will help coordinate the activities that involve fellowship and support needs among our members. We are also looking for individuals who want to coordinate special activity during the year like; BSLC Golf, Bowling Outings, Fishing Tournaments and/or Trap Shooting Tournaments for 2012. If you would like to help organize any of these, please contact the church office. Thanks!
Join the Discussion! We have started, The President's Discussion Group. He feels there are many things that a Christian deals with on a daily basis and you just want to talk to other Christians about it. Please come with some of your ideas of issues you want to talk about. We meet in the Fellowship Hall (right by the coffee and treats!). – Doug
