Baptism
We believe that Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:19-20 to
"...make disciples of all nations... baptizing them..." is still an
important part of the mission and ministry of the church today. If you or any
members of your family are not baptized, please speak with our pastor about
being baptized. We would be glad to serve God by bringing this gift into your
life.
Membership
If you are interested in becoming a member of Beautiful
Savior, please speak with our pastor. Membership is given through transfer,
affirmation of faith, or through a series of informative and interesting classes
on the basic teachings of the Bible and the Lutheran faith. We would be glad to
have you become a part of our church family!
Holy Communion
Is celebrated on the 1st & 3rd Sundays at
both worship services. The ministry of Word and Sacrament at Beautiful Savior is
conducted in accordance with Holy Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions. The
Holy Communion is not taken lightly because it is the precious, blessed supper
of our Lord Jesus Christ. In this meal, Jesus gives us His body and blood, in
the bread and wine, to eat and to drink. He also speaks to us those exceedingly
sweet and gracious words: "Given for you, shed for you for the forgiveness
of sins." While this gift is individually received, public testimony is
also given that those communing together share doctrinal unity. Therefore, out
of loving pastoral care, the congregations of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod
have promised to practice close communion. We kindly ask that our guests and
visitors respect our communion practice, and speak to the Pastor before
communing. Let us all pray that the divisions that separate Christians may one
day be healed on the basis of God's Holy Word. "For the well-being of the
Church of God, and for the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord."
Communion Procedure
Just in case you were wondering… we serve the communion
wine in two ways: individual cups and chalice. If you prefer to commune from the
chalice, please fold your hands when Pastor walks by with the individual cups
and watch for the Elder to bring the chalice.
To help the Elders, we ask those who partake of the
wine in the individual cups to fold their hands and hold he plastic cup in such
a way that the Elders can see the empty cup as they pass by with the chalice.
Also, the cups in the center of
the individual cup trays are filled with white grape juice for those who cannot
drink wine. And… the bread is served in both the traditional white wafer form
and also as broken pieces of matzo (unleavened bread). Please feel free to
partake of either form. If you have any further questions about all of this,
please visit with Pastor or one of the Elders. Taste and see – the Lord is
good!
